Solaray Copper 2 mg

Solaray's one-a-day copper capsule: 2 mg of an essential trace mineral your body can't make on its own

Copper is an essential trace mineral. Your body can't make it and stores only small amounts, so you need a regular supply from food or supplements. According to NIH, your body uses copper to make energy, connective tissue and blood vessels, and copper helps maintain your nervous and immune systems.

Solaray's Copper keeps it simple: one vegetable capsule a day gives you 2 mg of copper, 222% of the Daily Value, in a chelated form bound to amino acids. The bottle carries Lab Verified and vegan badges, and 100 VegCaps last a little over three months at one a day.

Supplement facts per VegCap

Serving size: 1 VegCap · 100 servings per container

Copper (from copper bisglycinate)2 mg (222% DV)

Other ingredients: Whole rice concentrate, vegetable cellulose capsule, rice extract blend, maltodextrin, citric acid and silica

That's the newest label. Solaray's website lists the copper source as copper amino acid chelate complex with no maltodextrin, which may match bottles already on our shelf. Either way, each VegCap has 2 mg of copper.

How to use it

  1. Take 1 VegCap a day with a meal or a glass of water.
  2. If you take it for a long time, the label notes you may need other minerals too, especially zinc and iron.

Keep out of reach of children, and don't use it if the safety seal is broken or missing. The label asks you to keep your licensed healthcare practitioner informed while you use it. NIH sets the adult upper limit for copper at 10 mg a day from all sources. Solaray's site also carries a California Prop 65 warning for reproductive harm.

A good fit if you

  • Want a single-mineral copper supplement instead of a full multi
  • Take a zinc supplement and want to keep copper in the mix
  • Prefer a vegan capsule you take once a day

Common questions

How much copper do I need?

NIH lists 900 mcg a day for adults. One VegCap gives you 2 mg (2,000 mcg), and the adult upper limit from all sources is 10 mg a day.

Should I take copper with zinc?

NIH notes that high doses of zinc can interfere with copper absorption, and Solaray's label says long-term use may mean you need other minerals, especially zinc and iron. Ask us or your practitioner how to balance them.

How long does a bottle last?

100 days at one VegCap a day.

Is it vegan?

Yes. The bottle carries a vegan badge, and the capsule is made from vegetable cellulose.
