Nutricost Colostrum
Bovine colostrum in capsules, with 500 mg in every capsule and 120 in the bottle
This is Nutricost's bovine colostrum in capsules. Colostrum is the first milk a cow makes after calving, and it's naturally rich in proteins, antibodies and other compounds (Costa et al., 2023). Every capsule holds 500 mg, the bottle has 120 capsules, and Nutricost files it with its general health and sports nutrition products.
Nutricost has changed how the label counts a serving. The bottle in our photo is the earlier label: 1 capsule (500 mg) a serving, 120 servings. Nutricost's current label calls 2 capsules (1,000 mg) a serving, 60 servings, and adds rice flour to the fill. Either way it's 500 mg of colostrum per capsule, and it contains milk.

Other ingredients: Earlier label: gelatin capsule, magnesium stearate (vegetable source), milk protein concentrate, silica, nonfat dry milk. Current label: gelatin capsule, rice flour, milk protein concentrate, magnesium stearate (vegetable source), nonfat dry milk, silica. Contains milk.
Both labels are 120 capsules with 500 mg of colostrum in each. The current label marks it non-GMO, gluten-free and third-party tested, made and quality tested in the USA with globally sourced ingredients. The capsules are gelatin, so this isn't vegetarian.
How to use it
- Follow the serving on your bottle: the current label says 2 capsules a day with 8 to 12 oz of water, and earlier bottles list 1 capsule as a serving.
- Store the bottle in a cool, dry place.
Contains milk, so skip it if you have a milk allergy. For healthy adults 18 and older. Check with a healthcare professional before use if you're pregnant or nursing, take medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children. If you compete in a tested sport, note that the World Anti-Doping Agency doesn't recommend colostrum because it may contain growth factors on its prohibited list, and this bottle carries no sport-testing badge.
A good fit if you
- Want bovine colostrum in a simple capsule
- Would rather swallow capsules than mix a powder
- Like a short ingredient list with no sweeteners or flavors

Common questions
How much colostrum is in each capsule?
500 mg. Earlier labels call 1 capsule a serving, and Nutricost's current label calls 2 capsules (1,000 mg) a serving. The bottle has 120 capsules either way.
Is colostrum dairy?
Yes. It's the first milk a cow makes after calving, and the capsules also contain milk protein concentrate and nonfat dry milk. Skip it if you have a milk allergy.
Is colostrum OK for tested athletes?
It isn't banned, but WADA advises against it because it may contain prohibited growth factors, and this bottle has no sport-testing badge. Talk to your sport's anti-doping contact first.
How is this different from a colostrum powder?
It's a much smaller daily amount: 500 mg to 1,000 mg in capsules, versus 20 g a scoop in the Transparent Labs colostrum powder we also carry.
