Life Extension BioActive Complete B-Complex

All eight B vitamins, with methylcobalamin, methylfolate and P5P, in 2 vegetarian capsules a day for energy metabolism

BioActive Complete B-Complex is Life Extension's full-spectrum B vitamin formula for energy metabolism and brain health. Two vegetarian capsules cover all eight B vitamins and include coenzyme forms like riboflavin 5'-phosphate, pyridoxal 5'-phosphate (P5P), L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate and methylcobalamin, which Life Extension calls biologically active.

B vitamins help your body turn food into energy and support normal brain and nervous system function. You get 100 mg each of thiamine, niacin and B6, 75 mg of riboflavin, 500 mg of pantothenic acid, 680 mcg DFE of folate, 300 mcg of B12 and 1,000 mcg of biotin, plus 100 mg of inositol and 50 mg of PABA. A bottle of 60 capsules is a 30-day supply.

How to use it

  1. Take 2 capsules a day with food.
  2. Don't take more than 2 capsules a day.

The label notes temporary flushing, itching, rash or stomach upset may occur. One serving has 100 mg of vitamin B6, which is NIH's daily upper limit for adults, and 100 mg of niacin, above NIH's 35 mg limit for niacin from supplements, so don't add other B6 or niacin supplements without asking your doctor. Talk to your physician first if you're pregnant or nursing or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children.

A good fit if you

  • Want all eight B vitamins in one formula
  • Prefer methylcobalamin and methylfolate to cyanocobalamin and folic acid
  • Want B vitamins to support energy metabolism
  • Need a vegetarian, gluten-free capsule

Common questions

Which B vitamins are in it?

All eight: thiamine (B1), riboflavin (B2), niacin (B3), pantothenic acid (B5), B6, biotin (B7), folate (B9) and B12, plus inositol and PABA.

What forms of folate and B12 does it use?

Folate as L-5-methyltetrahydrofolate calcium salt (680 mcg DFE) and B12 as methylcobalamin (300 mcg).

Why might I notice flushing?

The label says temporary flushing, itching, rash or stomach upset may occur. NIH notes the nicotinic acid form of niacin can cause skin flushing, and this formula uses niacin along with niacinamide.
