Allmax Hexapro

Allmax's high-protein lean meal: six dairy proteins that digest at different speeds, with 25 g of protein a scoop

Hexapro is what Allmax calls a high-protein lean meal. Instead of one fast whey, it blends six dairy proteins, from quick whey hydrolysate and isolate to slow micellar casein, so the protein keeps coming over a longer stretch, up to 8 hours by Allmax's count. That makes it a shake for after training, between meals or before bed. Each 44 g scoop has 25 g of protein and 170 calories, and it mixes up thick, like a milkshake.

Current tubs list 0 g of added sugar (earlier tubs list 1 g), and Hexapro is part of Verified for Sport, Allmax's own banned-substance lot testing. The 2 lb tub has about 21 servings, and we carry Chocolate, Cookies and Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter, Strawberry and French Vanilla.

Other ingredients: Six-protein blend (whey protein concentrate, milk protein concentrate, milk protein isolate, whey protein isolate, micellar casein, whey protein hydrolysate), maltodextrin, natural and artificial flavors, soluble corn fiber, coconut creamer (coconut oil, soluble corn fiber, sodium caseinate), cellulose and xanthan gums, sea salt, sunflower and soy lecithin, sucralose, acesulfame potassium, plus cocoa, peanut flour, beet root powder or cookie crumbs depending on the flavor

Every flavor contains milk, soy and coconut oil. Chocolate Peanut Butter also contains peanuts, and Cookies and Cream contains wheat in its cookie crumbs, so it isn't gluten free. Calories, protein and the 44 g scoop are the same on every label version; the other numbers shift a little by flavor and print.

How to use it

  1. Mix 1 scoop with 6 to 8 oz of cold water or milk (earlier tubs say about 8 oz).
  2. Have 1 to 2 scoops a day. Allmax suggests it after training, between meals, or 1 scoop before bed.
  3. For a thicker shake, blend it with milk and ice.

For adults. The label says to talk to a health care practitioner before use if you're pregnant or breastfeeding or have liver or kidney disease, to take it a few hours apart from other medications, and to use it as a food supplement, not for weight reduction. Contains milk and soy, plus peanuts in Chocolate Peanut Butter and wheat in Cookies and Cream. Tubs carry a California Prop 65 warning for lead.

A good fit if you

  • Want one shake that works after training, between meals and before bed
  • Like a thick, milkshake-style protein with 25 g a scoop
  • Compete in a tested sport and want a protein that's lot tested for banned substances

Common questions

How much protein is in Hexapro?

25 g per 44 g scoop in every flavor, at 170 calories, with 12 to 13 g of carbs.

How is Hexapro different from a regular whey protein?

A regular whey is one fast-digesting protein. Hexapro mixes six dairy proteins that digest at different speeds, from whey hydrolysate to micellar casein, so Allmax built it to keep supplying protein for longer. That's why people use it between meals or before bed as well as after training.

Can I drink it before bed?

Yes. Allmax suggests 1 scoop before bed, and the blend includes slow-digesting micellar casein and milk protein.

Is Hexapro gluten free?

Cookies and Cream isn't, because it contains wheat in its cookie crumbs. The other four flavors don't list wheat, but read your tub if you avoid gluten.
