Core Nutritionals Core Pro

Core's gourmet whey and milk protein blend, with 25 g of protein a scoop in 13 dessert flavors

Core Pro is Core Nutritionals' everyday protein, built to support muscle growth and recovery with a mix of fast- and slower-digesting protein. Each scoop blends whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate and milk protein isolate, which keeps casein and whey in their natural milk ratio, and Core prints how much protein each source supplies. It adds Core's DigeSEB digestive enzyme blend and coconut oil creamer for a smooth shake. Every flavor panel we've read lists 25 g of protein and 130 to 160 calories a scoop.

Most flavors have 1 g of sugar and 0 g of added sugar; Cookies n' Cream lists 1 g of added sugar and Holiday Sugar Cookie 4 g from its sprinkles. Five of our flavors carry the barcodes from Core's earlier labels, and Core has since refreshed its tubs, so numbers can vary slightly from tub to tub. Each 2 lb tub has 22 to 28 servings depending on the flavor, and we carry 13 flavors, from Death by Chocolate and Cinnamon French Toast to Pumpkin Spice and White Chocolate Raspberry.

Core hasn't published panels for Peanut Butter, Strawberries n' Cream or Banana Cream Pie, so check the label on those tubs.

How to use it

  1. Add 1 scoop to 6 to 8 oz of cold water and shake or stir until mixed.
  2. Have it after training, between meals or any time you need protein. Core built the whey and milk protein mix to work any time, day or night.

For healthy adults 18 and older; the label says not to use it if you're pregnant or nursing. Check with your healthcare provider first if you take any medication or supplement or have a medical condition. Contains milk and coconut, and some flavors contain gluten or soy, so read the allergen line on your tub. The label carries a California Prop 65 warning for lead.

A good fit if you

  • Want a whey and milk protein blend you can drink any time of day
  • Like dessert flavors with 0 g of added sugar in most of them
  • Want to see exactly how much protein each source supplies

Common questions

How much protein is in Core Pro?

25 g per scoop in every flavor panel we've read: 12.5 g from whey protein concentrate, 6.25 g from whey protein isolate and 6.25 g from milk protein isolate.

What does Core mean by sustained release?

Milk protein isolate keeps casein and whey in their natural milk ratio, and casein digests more slowly than whey. Core pairs it with faster-digesting whey concentrate and isolate, so one shake gives you both.

Does it have sugar?

Most flavors list 1 g of sugar and 0 g of added sugar. Cookies n' Cream lists 1 g of added sugar and Holiday Sugar Cookie 4 g. It's sweetened with sucralose.

Is Core Pro gluten free?

Core doesn't label it gluten free. Cookies n' Cream contains gluten from its cookie pieces, and Core makes it in a facility that also processes wheat.

Why do servings per tub vary?

Scoop weights range from 32.8 g to 41 g by flavor, so a 2 lb tub holds about 22 servings of Airplane Cookies & Cream and up to 28 of flavors like Cinnamon French Toast.
