Core Nutritionals Core Grow

A whole-food based mass gainer with 880 calories and 50 g of protein a serving, made with oats and sweet potato and no maltodextrin

Core Grow is Core Nutritionals' mass gainer, built for lifters who need a lot of quality calories to put on size. Instead of maltodextrin, the carbs come from oat flour, sweet potato powder and organic cane sugar, and the protein comes from cold-processed whey protein concentrate and milk protein isolate, with coconut oil creamer for fat. A 4-scoop serving has 870 to 880 calories, 50 g of protein, 133 to 136 g of carbs and 15 to 17 g of fiber.

Core adds 2,000 mg of Velositol, an amylopectin and chromium complex studied alongside whey protein for muscle protein synthesis, plus its DigeSEB digestive enzyme blend. Each 10 lb bag has about 20 servings, and we carry Cookies n Cream, Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup and Vanilla Milkshake.

How to use it

  1. Add 4 scoops to 16 to 20 oz of cold water or milk, depending on how thick you like it, and shake or stir until mixed.
  2. Have it between meals or after training when you need extra calories to gain size. Milk adds more calories and protein than water.

For healthy adults 18 and older; the label says not to use it if you're pregnant or nursing. Check with your healthcare provider first if you take any medication or supplement or have a medical condition. Each serving has 30 g of added sugar. Contains milk, coconut and wheat, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup contains peanut. The label carries a California Prop 65 warning for lead.

A good fit if you

  • Struggle to eat enough calories to gain size
  • Want a gainer with oats and sweet potato instead of maltodextrin
  • Want 50 g of protein in one shake

Common questions

How many calories are in Core Grow?

880 per 4-scoop serving in Cookies n Cream and Chocolate Peanut Butter Cup, and 870 in Vanilla Milkshake, mixed with water. Milk adds more.

Does it have maltodextrin?

No. The carbs come from oat flour, sweet potato powder and organic cane sugar, and Core labels it maltodextrin free.

Can I use a smaller serving?

The label's serving is 4 scoops in 16 to 20 oz of liquid. Fewer scoops simply give you proportionally fewer calories and less protein.

What is Velositol?

A patented amylopectin and chromium complex from Nutrition 21. In a 2017 study, adding it to a small dose of whey protein raised muscle protein synthesis more than whey alone. Each Grow serving has 2,000 mg.

Is it gluten free?

No. Every flavor lists wheat in its allergen statement.
