1st Phorm Level-1

1st Phorm's sustained-release protein for between meals, with 23 to 24 g of protein a scoop

Level-1 is 1st Phorm's everyday protein: a blend of whey and milk protein that 1st Phorm says breaks down over 2 to 3 hours instead of all at once. It's built for between meals and through the day, to support muscle repair, growth and recovery and help you reach your daily protein. Every Level-1 panel 1st Phorm publishes lists 23 or 24 g of protein per scoop at 120 to 150 calories, with 2 g of sugar or less.

It's 1st Phorm's dessert-flavor protein, and it mixes into milk, cooled coffee, smoothies, oats and baking. We carry Milk Chocolate, Salted Peanut Butter, Blueberry Muffin, Caramel Latte, Pumpkin Spice Latte, Red Velvet Cake, Peppermint Bark and more, plus Natural Chocolate and Natural Vanilla, which are sweetened with monk fruit. Many flavors are in the NSF Certified for Sport listing. Each tub has 30 servings, and some of our flavors come from earlier label versions, so check the panel on your tub.

Other ingredients: Current tubs: whey protein concentrate and milk protein concentrate with natural flavor, salt, sucralose and sunflower lecithin, plus cocoa or peanut flour by flavor. Pumpkin Spice Latte adds artificial flavor and nutmeg. Natural Chocolate and Natural Vanilla use whey protein concentrate and milk protein isolate, sweetened with monk fruit.

Every flavor contains milk, and Salted Peanut Butter also contains peanuts. Chocolate Banana, Chocolate Marshmallow, Cinnamon Cookie Batter, German Chocolate Cake and Peaches N Cream come from an earlier recipe with a coconut or palm oil creamer, corn syrup solids and acesulfame potassium, at 140 to 150 calories; those also contain soy (Peaches N Cream lists coconut instead). 1st Phorm says Level-1 is gluten free.

How to use it

  1. Add 1 rounded scoop to 4 oz of ice-cold water or milk, then shake or blend for about 30 seconds. Add more liquid if you like it thinner.
  2. Use it between meals or any time you need protein during the day.
  3. For coffee, let it cool a few minutes first, or mix the scoop into 2 oz of cold water or milk before you pour the coffee in.

Contains milk. Salted Peanut Butter also contains peanuts, and the earlier-recipe flavors contain soy or coconut. Not for anyone under 18, or if you're pregnant, nursing or trying to get pregnant. If you have a medical condition or take prescription medication, check with your physician first. The tub says to use it as a food supplement only, not for weight reduction.

A good fit if you

  • Want an easy protein shake between meals
  • Like dessert flavors, or mixing protein into coffee and recipes
  • Want a flavor in the NSF Certified for Sport listing (check yours)

Common questions

How much protein is in a scoop of Level-1?

23 or 24 g, depending on the flavor, at 120 to 150 calories.

What's the difference between Level-1 and Phormula-1?

Level-1 is 1st Phorm's sustained-release blend of whey and milk protein for between meals, which it says breaks down over 2 to 3 hours. Phormula-1 is its fast-digesting whey isolate for right after training.

Can I put it in coffee?

Yes. Let the coffee cool for a few minutes first, or mix the scoop into 2 oz of cold water or milk and then pour in the coffee. Very hot liquid makes it clump.

Which flavors don't use artificial sweeteners?

Natural Chocolate and Natural Vanilla are sweetened with monk fruit. The other flavors use sucralose, and the earlier-recipe flavors also use acesulfame potassium.

Is Level-1 NSF Certified for Sport?

Many flavors are listed, including Milk Chocolate, Salted Peanut Butter, Blueberry Muffin, Caramel Latte, Red Velvet Cake and Strawberry Milkshake. Natural Chocolate, Natural Vanilla, Peaches N Cream, Peppermint Bark and Pumpkin Spice Latte aren't. If you're a tested athlete, check your flavor on nsfsport.com.
