Core Nutritionals HARD
Core Nutritionals' recomposition capsule, built to support healthy cortisol, estrogen balance and muscle while you diet and train
HARD is what Core Nutritionals calls a recomposition agent: a capsule for the stretch of training when you're dieting and want to keep your muscle and look harder. Core built it to support healthy cortisol levels, estrogen balance and muscle retention, and every amount is on the label. A 3-capsule serving has 600 mg of KSM-66 ashwagandha root extract, 500 mg of phosphatidylserine (50%), 300 mg of L-theanine and 200 mg of DIM.
Core has sold two versions. The current label adds 250 mg of Coleus forskohlii extract (20% forskolin); the earlier label, which matches the barcode on our listing, has 100 mg of Cocoabuterol cocoa extract instead. Check the panel on your bottle. Neither version lists caffeine, and Core describes HARD as stimulant free. Each bottle has 84 vegetable capsules, a 28-day supply.

How to use it
- Take 1 capsule 3 times a day: when you wake up, at midday and before bed.
- Or take all 3 capsules at night.
- Don't take more than 4 capsules in 24 hours.
For adults 18 and older. If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your healthcare professional first; the earlier label says pregnant or nursing women shouldn't use it at all. If you have a medical condition or take prescription drugs, check with a physician before you start. The earlier label also asks you to check first if you take an MAOI and to stop 2 weeks before surgery. Both labels carry a California Prop 65 warning. NIH notes a few reports of liver problems with ashwagandha and that it might affect thyroid function.
A good fit if you
- Are dieting and want to hold on to muscle
- Want a caffeine-free capsule to add to your stack

Common questions
Does HARD have caffeine?
Neither label lists caffeine, and Core describes HARD as stimulant free. The earlier version includes a cocoa extract standardized to cocoa alkaloids.
When should I take it?
1 capsule when you wake up, 1 at midday and 1 before bed, or all 3 at night. Don't go over 4 capsules in 24 hours.
What changed between the two versions?
The current label swaps the earlier 100 mg of Cocoabuterol cocoa extract for 250 mg of Coleus forskohlii extract (20% forskolin). Ashwagandha, phosphatidylserine, L-theanine and DIM are the same on both.
How long does a bottle last?
84 capsules at 3 a day is 28 days.
What is KSM-66?
A branded ashwagandha root extract standardized to 5% withanolides. NIH's review of ashwagandha studies found lower cortisol and stress ratings than placebo, with bigger effects at 500 to 600 mg a day. HARD has 600 mg per serving.
