Nutricost L-Citrulline Malate
Unflavored L-citrulline malate 2:1 with 3 g a scoop, made for adding to your pre-workout
This is Nutricost's L-citrulline malate in the classic 2:1 form: 3 g per scoop, unflavored, in a 300 g tub. Nutricost files it with its sports nutrition and amino acids, and citrulline is a common pre-workout ingredient for blood flow and training pumps. Citrulline malate pairs citrulline with malic acid, so part of every scoop is malate. If you'd rather have citrulline on its own, we also carry Nutricost's pure L-citrulline.
Your body absorbs citrulline well and turns part of it into arginine, which it uses to make nitric oxide, a molecule involved in blood flow. In one study, citrulline raised blood arginine more than taking arginine itself (Schwedhelm et al., 2008). Performance research on citrulline and citrulline malate is mixed, though several studies report better exercise performance and recovery (Gonzalez and Trexler, 2020). Two labels are in circulation: earlier tubs list 98 servings with calcium silicate and silica added, and the current label lists 100 servings with nothing else in the tub.

How to use it
- Mix 1 scoop with 6 to 10 oz of water once a day.
- The label doesn't set a time. It's usually taken before a workout, on its own or stirred into a pre-workout drink.
- Contents are sold by weight, so some settling in the tub is normal. Store it in a cool, dry place.
For healthy adults 18 and older. Check with a healthcare professional before use if you're pregnant or nursing, take medication or have a medical condition. Keep out of reach of children, and don't use it if the safety seal is broken or missing.
A good fit if you
- Want citrulline malate to add to your pre-workout
- Build your own pre-workout and like to control each dose
- Want an unflavored powder that won't change the taste of your drink

Common questions
What does 2:1 mean?
It's two parts L-citrulline to one part malic acid. So a 3 g scoop gives you roughly 2 g of citrulline and 1 g of malate.
How is this different from your plain L-citrulline?
Nutricost's L-citrulline tub is citrulline base with no malate, 3 g of citrulline a scoop. This tub is citrulline malate, so the same size scoop holds less citrulline and adds malic acid.
Why does my tub say 98 servings?
Earlier tubs use a 3.1 g scoop that includes calcium silicate and silica, which works out to 98 servings. The current label uses a 3 g scoop with nothing added, for 100 servings. Both give you 3 g of citrulline malate a scoop.
Can I mix it with my pre-workout?
Yes. It's unflavored, so it stirs into most drinks. Check your pre-workout's label first, since many already contain citrulline or citrulline malate.
